Home Solutions prefers James
Hardie fiber-cement siding
products!
Credibility
heads the list. James Hardie
is the only company in the
fiber-cement industry that can
call on 20 years of proven
field experience in markets
all over the world.
"That's very
important," says John
Dybsky, Marketing Manager.
"For 20 years we've
continually modified and
enhanced our proprietary
technology creating the most
durable siding product
available. Volume home
builders want companies and
products they can trust. The
fact that James Hardie
products have maintained an
outstanding performance record
globally for over 20 years,
and are continuing this
performance record in the U.S.
on over 2.5 million homes,
provide a level of credibility
that builders are looking
for."
Selection,
with the industry's broadest
offering of textures and
profiles, is another reason
James Hardie is preferred. The
firm is the only fiber-cement
company to provide all
materials for a full-wrap
house, including HardiePlank
lap siding, HardiePanel
vertical siding, Hardie
Shingleside, HardieTrim
boards and HardieSoffit
panels and fascia.
Innovation
is another key. James Hardie
operates the only fiber-cement
research and development
facility in North America.
"That facility,"
says Dybsky, "has
developed such innovative
concepts as our PrimePlusTM
factory-applied sealer and
priming system, the ColorPlus
Collection of colors and stain
for lap and shingle-panel
siding, HeritageTM
Shingleside panels, vented
Hardie Soffit, 4/4
(3/4-inch)HardieTrim, and the
soon-to-be-released HLD
Technology TM, which will
offer a lightweight
fiber-cement trim board in a
5/4 (1-inch) thickness."
Support,
in the form of national supply
capability and strong national
branding efforts, is an
additional builder plus. James
Hardie provides national
distribution, with six
production facilities across
the country and a large field
sales force devoted almost
exclusively to supporting
builder technical
requirements. The firm has
also worked with third-party
manufacturers to develop
user-friendly tools, such as a
Makita circular saw and a
HARDIBLADETM from
Hitachi Power Tools.

Benefits
of Fiber-Cement Siding
Fiber-cement
siding provides low
maintenance, but unlike vinyl,
doesn't sacrifice the beauty
and character of wood. Fiber
cement siding won't rot or
crack, and it resists damage
from rain, hail and flying
debris. Best of all,
fiber-cement siding is fire
resistant, with a limited,
transferable warranty for up
to 50 years. No wonder it's
protecting over 3.5 million
homes in North America alone.
Everyones
dream home is different.
Thats why we offer a wide
selection of options for any
home style. Choose from lap
siding, shingle siding,
individual shingles and siding
accessories in a variety of
appealing styles and colors.
Our versatile product range
also makes it easy to match an
existing style or siding type.
So whether youre just
adding on or completely
re-siding, we have an option
that's perfect for your home.
We can help inform you of the
various options and compare to
other types of siding
Steps
to complete Fiber-Cement
Siding
- Begin
the re-siding projects by
removing the old siding
down to sheathing,
exposing any problems that
you might have within the
walls. Treat and replace
any rotting wood, and also
checks for insulation
problems, there are many
options for increasing the
insulation in the walls.
Including using radiant
barrier OSB to sheath the
wall back in.
- We
then wrap the exposed
walls with Tyvek or an
equivalent, breathable
vapor barrier.
- We
re-flash where needed to
prevent moisture
infiltration.
- We
will then begin the
installation of the trim
materials and the Fiber
Cement siding product of
choice.
- Based
on the application, we use
either double dipped
galvanized or stainless
steel siding nails, then
caulk all necessary seams
with high quality
siliconized latex caulk.
We use this because it
remains flexible to avoid
cracking.
- The
final step is the
painting. We use a high
quality professional
acrylic latex paint for a
beautiful, long lasting
finish.
- Final
inspection and walk
through
Fiber
cement, also known as cement
fiber products, require
specific training in their
unique procedures and
guidelines for proper
installation. Our craftsmen
will ensure your warrantees
are honored should you ever
need it.
